Bette Ann Ewell

SHAWNEETOWN - Bette Ann Ewell, 78, of Tempe, Arizona, died Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2016, in Promise Hospital in Mesa, Arizona.

She was born May 18, 1938, in Shawneetown to Ralph and Jewel Chapman. On Jan. 23, 1954, she married Glendel Ewell, and he survives.

Glen and Bette moved to Arizona for her health due to a severe arthritis condition in January of 1964. She worked for Kellwood Company of Mesa, Arizona, for 14 years, from July of 1964 to August of 1978.

Bette had been a licensed realtor since 1978, when she went to work with her husband and her brother, Curt Chapman, at American ERA Realtors. Twenty-three years later, they changed the name to American Associates Real Estate.

Bette was very successful in sales and property management until her retirement in 2004.

Survivors include her husband, Glendel from Harrisburg, now residing in Tempe, Arizona; daughter, Bonnie Ewell-Doll, broker; son, David Ewell, realtor/management for American Associates; five grandchildren, Chelsea Doll, Kara Doll, Ashlee Ewell, Austin Ewell and Taylor Ewell; three brothers, Curtis Chapman, realtor, of Tempe, Arizona, and Gary Chapman and Randall Morgan, both of Pontiac.

A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Dec. 10, in Richardson Funeral Home, 2621 S. Rural Road, Tempe, Arizona, with Pastor Mark Chappell officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Freeway Baptist Church, 8501 N. Black Canyon Highway, Phoenix, AZ 85021, for those who wish. Envelopes will be available at the service.
