Marchetta "Skeets" Lambert

Marchetta "Skeets" Lambert, 90, of Harrisburg, passed away on Wednesday, September 28, 2016. The Lord granted Marchetta's wishes to be with Him. She passed away while in Deaconess Hospice Care surrounded by the love of her family.

Marchetta was born on August 5, 1926 to Roy and Fultie Thurmond. Her parents were the owners of Cliff Café at Herod, IL from 1940 to 1963. Marchetta married Douglas Lambert on January 31, 1946 in Morganfield, KY and they enjoyed 62 wonderful years together; they lived most of their life in Harrisburg.

She graduated from Harrisburg Township High School with the class of 1944 and attended SIU. Marchetta taught in one room schools at Colbert School on Eagle Creek Road and Sadler School on Womble Road. She worked at Boren's IGA in Harrisburg until her retirement. Marchetta was very active in church work where she was a member of Dorrisville Baptist Church and taught Sunday school class there. She was active in the WMU and other mission work. She enjoyed visiting people and sharing the Lord's love.

Marchetta is survived by her four children: Cindy Hughes and husband Paul of Harrisburg, Duane Lambert and wife Suzette of Harrisburg, Paul "Shag" Lambert and wife Patti of Harrisburg and Ellen Bush and husband Fred of Harrisburg; eight grandchildren: Andrea Phalin and husband Mike, Jordan Lambert and wife Alexa, Brette Lambert, Douglas Einar Dyhrkopp and wife Jennifer, Kara Brass and husband Derek, Aaron Dyhrkopp and wife Jessica, Kaitlyn Smith and Karrigan Bush; great-grandchildren: Connor Phalin, Cooper Phalin, Olivia Brass, Barrett Brass, Anthony Dyhrkopp, Lauren Dyhrkopp, Benjamin Dyhrkopp and Noah Thaxton; sister: Pauline Crabb, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Marchetta was preceded in death by her parents Roy and Fultie Thurmond, husband, Douglas Lambert, sisters, Nadine Ledbetter and Vivian DeMoss, brothers, Eugene and Edward Thurmond and son-in-law, Anthony "Tony" Dyhrkopp.

Funeral services will be held at 3 PM, Sunday, October 2, 2016 at Dorrisville Baptist Church in Harrisburg. Rev. Dewayne Taylor will officiate. Burial will follow in Spring Valley Cemetery south of Harrisburg. Visitation will be from 1 to 3 PM, Sunday, October 2, 2016 at Dorrisville Baptist Church in Harrisburg.
