Norman "Butch" Duncan

<p class="x_MsoNormal"> Norman "Butch" Duncan, 60 years of age, passed away at home September 4, 2016. <span class="contextualExtensionHighlight ms-font-color-themePrimary ms-border-color-themePrimary ident_365_454">He leaves behind his wife of 35 years, Edna Duncan, whom he married on February 14, 1981.</span>

<p class="x_MsoNormal">Butch and Edna were blessed with a son: Johnny Gwaltney of Goreville, IL; daughters: Kati Stilley and husband Shane of McEwen, TN; Kristie Garrison and family of McEwen, TN; and Lisa Beddingfield and husband Chase of Gadsden, AL. Butch was "Papaw" to 9 grandchildren and 1 great grandson.

<p class="x_MsoNormal">Butch leaves behind Brothers: Dennis Duncan and wife Lisa of Jasper, AK; Paul "Skip" Duncan and wife Dena of Paducah, KY and his sister: Cindy Butler and husband Rick of Eddyville, IL

<p class="x_MsoNormal">Butch was born to Everett C. Duncan and the late Kay Tarlton Duncan on November 6, 1955. Butch served in the US Army during the Viet Nam era. After moving to Pope County in 1994, he began to take an interest in the Emergency Services of the county. He served as Captain and Training Office for the Pope County Rural Fire Protection. Butch was also an EMT and was lead dispatcher for Pope County 911. He served over 20 years in Emergency Service for Pope County.

<p class="x_MsoNormal"> <span class="contextualExtensionHighlight ms-font-color-themePrimary ms-border-color-themePrimary ident_1395_1511">Funeral services for Butch will be held at 1PM, Thursday, September 8, 2016 at Spring Valley Social Brethren Church.</span> Rev. Chuck Depriest will officiate. Burial will follow in Spring Valley Cemetery with Veterans Rites by the Harrisburg & Carrier Mills American Legion and the VFW and Honor Guard from the National Guard in Marion. <span class="contextualExtensionHighlight ms-font-color-themePrimary ms-border-color-themePrimary ident_1726_1865">Visitation will be 5 to 8 PM Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg and from 11AM to 1PM Thursday at the church.</span> Condolences may be sent to the family at www.reedfuneralchapel.com
