One injured in convenience store stabbing

One man was wounded and another is in custody after a stabbing attack at a Huck's in Harrisburg.

Deangelo Cowper, 33, of Harrisburg, has been charged with one count of aggravated battery, and one count of possession of a weapon by a felon after his arrest in connection with a stabbing Monday morning at the Huck's Convenience Food Store at the 600 West Poplar Street.

Police Chief James "Whipper" Johnson said the investigation into the attack is ongoing with authorities reviewing security footage and speaking to witnesses.

The victim, whose name was withheld by authorities, was cared for at Harrisburg Medical Center and transferred to an area hospital for further treatment. His condition was withheld as of Monday afternoon, but Johnson did say that the victim had not even realized that he had been wounded at the time of the stabbing.

Cowper, who was brought in by authorities at 8:50 a.m. on Monday, is currently in custody at the Saline County Jail awaiting his first appearance in Saline County Court.

Huck's Convenience Food Store, owned by Martin & Bayley, based in Carmi, had no comment about the incident.
