Patsy Joyce Ledbetter

Patsy Joyce Ledbetter of rural Dupo, Illinois, passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home from an acute myocardial infarction on August 13, 2016.

She was born on September 4, 1935 in Graves County, Kentucky, the daughter of Patrick Henry Folks and Mary Novella Folks, nee Mullins, both of whom preceded her death. In the latter 1930's, she moved with her parents to Miami, Florida, where they resided until the early 1940's, at which time her family returned to Wingo, Kentucky. She was the salutatorian of the Wingo High School Class of 1953 and voted by her classmates at "Most Intellectual." She completed a baccalaureate degree in music education at Murray State University in 1957. Her educational accomplishments also included the completion of a Master of Science degree in education. In 1957, she relocated to Southern Illinois, where she began her education career.

On July 24, 1960 she married school administrator Robin Franklin Ledbetter, who preceded her in death on September 14, 2011 after 51 years of marriage. She is survived by her daughter Janee Marie Dobson, nee Ledbetter, a certified public accountant, and grandson Noah Dobson of Urbana, Illinois. Additionally, she is survived by her son, Frank Robin Ledbetter, attorney at law, daughter-in-law Rosaleen Mary Ledbetter, nee Baggot, granddaughter of Marissa Joy Ledbetter, and granddaughter Veronica Rose Ledbetter of Ladue, Missouri. She was employed as a teacher by the Dupo School District from 1983 until her retirement in 2001. Up until her death, she continued to regularly teach piano students, including her granddaughters, and volunteered at her son's law practice. For many years and up until her passing, she was the organist for the Dupo United Church of Christ, where she was a long-time member.

Visitation will be on Friday, August 19, 2016 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Leesman Funeral Home in Dupo, Ill., and an hour before the service Saturday at the church.

Funeral Services will be on Saturday, August 20, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Christ United Church of Christ in Dupo, Ill., with Rev. Todd Muschaney, officiating.

Graveside Services will be on Saturday, August 20, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Good Hope Cemetery in Hardin County, Ill.
