Ruth Harris Tobe

Ruth Harris Tobe, age 90, resident of Carrier Mills, passed away Saturday-August 6, 2016 at the home of her sister Wanda Dunn with whom she had made her home for the last several years.

Ruth was born on August 15, 1925 in rural Stonefort, IL daughter of the late Curtis Harris and Savannah Ashworth Harris.

She married Stanley Tobe on March 19, 1988 and he preceded her in death on December 7, 2004

Ruth worked for International Harvester for many years and later retired from Aratex Services in the Chicago area.

She is survived by her sister; Wanda Dunn of Carrier Mills, step-children; Marlene (Bob) Hartzman of Washington, D.C., Tammie Tobe of Washington D.C., Henry Tobey of Lakewood, CO

step-grandchildren; Alex, Jacob, and Isabelle and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded by her parents, husband, sister; Iris Turner, and a brother; James Curtis Harris.

Graveside services will precede burial 10:00 a.m. Wednesday-August 10, 2016 at the Coal Bank Springs Cemetery in rural Marion with the Rev. Mat Bebout officiating.

There will be no visitation and those attending the service are asked to meet at the cemetery.

Ruth has requested that flowers please be omitted. Memorials to the Coal Bank Springs Cemetery would be the preferred choice of remembrance. Envelopes will be available at the service.

Arrangements has been entrusted to the Absher-Nicholson Funeral Home in Carrier Mills.
