Virginia Lee Johnson

Virginia Lee Johnson, 84 of Carrier Mills, IL formerly of Stonefort and Creal Springs, IL died Friday July 22, 2016 at 10:30 am at the Carrier Mills Nursing Home. Funeral services will be held Monday July 25, 2016 at 11 am at Felty Funeral Home in Carrier Mills, IL. Visitation will be held Sunday from 4 to 7 pm at the funeral home. Burial will be in Simmons Cemetery near Creal Springs, IL. Reverend Jerry Schell will officiate.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude's Childrens Hospital or the American Heart Association.

She was born on April 3, 1932 in Creal Springs, IL to the late Joseph Arlie and Maime Marie (Benedict) Tanner.

She married Edward Paul Johnson on August 3, 1948 and he preceded in death on May 20, 1995.

She worked for 29 years in housekeeping at the Creal Springs Nursing Home. She loved to work outside in her rock and flower garden. She enjoyed sewing and embroidering.

She was a avid member of the Tunnel Hill Pentecostal Church and was a devoted grandmother to her grandchildren.

She is survived by 3 Daughters: Erma (Jim) Hambleton of Carrier Mills, IL; Donna (Rick) Wall of Creal Springs, IL and Janet (Don) Lawrence of Ozark, IL; Grandchildren: Scott (Anita) Hambleton of Carrier Mills, IL; Michele (John) Tourville of Murphysboro, IL; Kim (Charles) Burnham of Carrier Mills, IL; Lori Lawrence and Justin Lawrence both of Ozark, IL. Great Grandchildren: Melissa (Cody) Bynum of Carrier Mills, IL; Lexie Tourville of Murphysboro, IL; Jordan Burnham of Carrier Mills, IL; J.T. Tourville of Murphysboro, IL and Brandon Hambleton of Carrier Mills, IL; 1 Great Great Grandchild: Adalynn Grace Bynum of Carrier Mills, IL; 3 Brothers: Gene Tanner of Creal Springs, IL; Dick (Pat) Tanner of Elmhurst, IL and Charles (Lynn) Tanner of New Burnside, IL; Sister In Law: Shirley Johnson of Creal Springs, IL several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Brother: Johnie Deon Tanner; Sister JoAnn Johnson; 2 Sister In Laws and 4 Brother In Laws.
