Marilyn Louise Farrar (Allen)

MARILYN LOUISE FARRAR, nee ALLEN, age 78 of Los Angeles, California, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, July 9, 2016.

She was born January 11, 1938, in Carrier Mills, Illinois; the fourth child of Esta Edward Allen and Alverna (Taborn) Allen. She attended Lakeview Elementary School and Carrier Mills Community High School.

On March 2, 1954, she was united in marriage to Dean Eric Farrar, also of Carrier Mills, Illinois. (A marriage lasting 62 years.)

Marilyn was a devoted wife and mother. During a few junctures in her life, she took on a number of administrative positions in the workforce and attended classes at Santa Monica College; however, the majority of Marilyn's life was dedicated to the care of her family. She was a wonderful stay-at-home Mom; a great supporter of her husband's career; an excellent home manager; a terrific cook; an expert crossword puzzle enthusiast, and one of the smartest and best sisters a sibling could ever have.

In addition to her husband Dean, Marilyn is survived by her daughters; Lisa Denise Ailsworth of Tulsa, OK, and Lorna Alexia Farrar of Los Angeles, CA; three granddaughters, Donalisa (David) Helsley and Dawna Ailsworth, both of Tulsa; and Eviana Louise Farrar of Los Angeles; three great-grandchildren, Jayden Che, Genesis Helsley and David Helsley, Jr.

Two sisters, Myrna K. Hudson of Tallahassee, FL and Sandra F. Caraveo of San Antonio, TX; two brothers, Dennis E. Allen of San Antonio, TX and Lloyd Q. Allen of Aurora, MN; as well as a number of nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Steve Eric Farrar; sister, Stella R. Portee and brother, Coy L. Allen.

Services will be held on July 19, 2016
