Deborah Maynard Kohl

Deborah Maynard Kohl was born February 25, 1952, in Harrisburg, IL to Wilma (Pinkstaff) and Joe Maynard. Debbie grew up in Harrisburg and graduated from both Beauty School and High School in 1970. She moved to Carbondale, IL and attended Southern Illinois University, where she studied Computer Information Systems. Deb then had two children, Shannon and Nathan. She worked as a Data Processing Manager for EDS for many years. Her career took her to St. Louis, MO and later Dallas, TX where she became a Senior Account Executive at Banctec serving Latin America, until her retirement. Her work allowed her to travel frequently and experience other cultures. Debbie's whole life was her children and family. Deborah returned to Harrisburg in 2011 to care for her mother, until her death. In 2012 Deb met her companion Robert "Bob" Kelley and they loved each other deeply. In 2015 she became a grandmother to Ciel, "her joy." Deborah was a caring and kind person with a personality that touched many people throughout her travels. Debbie's kindness and selfless actions have been an inspiration. If you needed an ear to listen to you, a room to stay in, or whatever she had to give, she was your girl. She has instilled within us all that kindness that is both rare and unique.

Deborah is survived by her daughter Shannon Kohl (Corey Hess) of Harrisburg, son Nathan Kohl of Olathe, KS, granddaughter Ciel Kohl-Hess, partner Robert Kelley of Harrisburg, brother Michael Maynard of Stonefort, IL, brother Terry Maynard of Harrisburg, brother Randall Santy of Lowell, IN, niece LeAnna D'Orio of Chicago, and her dear friends Barb Mahoney of Eldorado, IL, and Trudy Eads of Carbondale, IL.
