Thelma Louise Morris

Thelma Louise Morris, age 91, a resident of McLeansboro passed away at 2:00 am on Thursday, June 9th, 2016 at the McLeansboro Health Care & Rehabilitation Center.

She was born on September 20th, 1924 in Hope, Arkansas, the daughter of Olin Otto Lowrey & Margaret Joyce Hooker Lowrey.

She married Vernon Jesse Morris on September 20th, 1943 and he preceded her in death.

She worked as a bookkeeper, cosmetologist, and a cosmetology teacher. She enjoyed bowling, her favorite color was pink, and she enjoyed country western music and Johnny Mathias. She enjoyed making soft cookies, great macaroni & cheese, banana pudding, and oatmeal cake.

Survivors include a daughter Joyce S. Creed (husband Thomas) of Newport, OR; a son Vernon Michael Morris of Napa, CA; 2 grandchildren: David Michael Morris and Jeanne Marie Tobman (husband David), 2 great grandchildren: Asher David Tobman and Annie Grace Tobman, a sister Helen Thackery of Mt. Vernon, IL and a brother Thomas Lowrey of Flint, MI.

Funeral services for Thelma Louise Morris will be held on Sunday, June 22nd, 2016 at 1:00 pm at the Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro, IL with Rev. Robert Sefried officiating.

Visitation will be from 12:00 noon until the time of service at 1:00 pm at the Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro.

Burial will be at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in McLeansboro.
