Sheriff: Teen seriously injured in wreck

An Eldorado youth was injured in a motorcycle accident Friday afternoon.

Saline County Central Dispatch received a 9-1-1 call at 12:50 p.m., reporting the accident on Masonic Cemetery Road near Karel Park Road. Saline County deputies and Med-Force EMS were dispatched to the scene, said Keith Brown, Saline County Sheriff.

The 14-year-old male was riding the motorcycle along Masonic Cemetery Road, about two miles north east of Raleigh, Illinois and met a vehicle. The motorcyclist attempted to miss the vehicle and went off the road and struck two trees.

The severely injured youth was flown from the scene to Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Ind., by Air Evac helicopter.

The accident is still under investigation by the Saline County Sheriff's Office and the juveniles name is not being released as he is a juvenile, Brown reports.

Today's accident was not related to an ongoing area motorcycle event. But Brown wants to remind motorists, that there will be a large presence of motorcycles traveling in and around Saline County.

"There will be numerous motorcycles sharing the roadways this weekend here in Saline County, please keep an eye out for the motorcyclists as you travel," Brown said.
