Sheriff's Office announces Drug Take Back results

The Saline County Sheriff's Office has announced the results of their eleventh Prescription Drug Take Back event.

On Saturday, April 30, residents of Saline County freely and anonymously dropped off 108 pounds of expired, unused, or old prescription drugs to be safely disposed of. The event was sponsored by the Saline County Sheriff's Office and the Drug Enforcement Agency.

According to the Sheriff's Office, unused prescription medications that are left in homes can create a public health and safety concern, as they could accidentally be ingested or stolen, misused and abused.

The Drug Take Back events allow water ways to remain safe as well, by properly disposing of the medications and not flushing them down toilets or washing them down the drain.

The Saline County Sheriff's Office will hold another Drug Take Back event this fall.
