LaVerne Hale Hyers

LaVerne Hale Hyers, 86 of Harrisburg, passed away at 3:20 p.m., Sunday, May 1, 2016 at her residence in Harrisburg.

LaVerne was born on November 15, 1929 in Rosiclare, IL to the late Harry and Opal (Crabb) Weatherington. She married James Hale and he preceded her in death on April 22, 1981. She then married William Hyers on October 6, 2003 and he preceded her in death on December 26, 2013. She was a Registered Nurse, and a member of the Honeycomb Church of God.

Surviving family members include her five children: Darlene (Jerry) Goolsby of Harrisburg, Judy (Larry) Street of Harrisburg, Della (Robert) Simmons of Shawneetown, Vicky Leonberger of Harrisburg and Michael (Lois) Hale of Galatia; fifteen grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; brother: Gene (Nina) Weatherington of Fairdale, KY; half-sister: Marlene Davis of Harrisburg.

She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, son, Dean Hale, grandson, Danny Brown, two half-sisters, Betty Foster and Bonnie Mallady, and a brother, Russell Weatherington.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, May 4, 2016 at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg. Rev. Harold Miller will officiate. Burial will follow in Colbert Cemetery in Herod.
