Harrisburg trailed by as many as 22 points in the second half and cut the lead to one-point with five minutes to play, but the Bulldogs lost to Vienna 79-60 in the opening of the Eldorado Lady Eagle Classic Saturday afternoon at Duff-Kingston Gymnasium.

"We got tired after all that work we did coming back mentally and physically," head coach Jake Stewart said. "We have talked all week about how we need leadership, heart, and intensity. I feel like we showed that (tonight) in the way we never gave up."

Ashley Ferrell had a huge game as the sophomore scored 24 points, while Lindsey Murray dumped in 17. Shelby Boer scored 12, while Hanna Jones finished with five points, but had 14 rebounds. Whitney Younger tacked on two points.

After starting the game on a 12-0 run, the Eagles closed out the first quarter up 20-8. They led by 42-26 at the half after outscoring Harrisburg 22-18 in the 2nd. "Vienna is a team that makes you guard them," Stewart said. "We had a real bad start but settled in. You can't have that kind of a start against a top-5 team."

The second have started with Vienna scoring six straight points to take a 22-point lead. The Bulldogs then closed the gap to six at the end of the third by outscoring Vienna 23-13 in the period.

Harrisburg returns to the Lady Eagle Classic tonight, where they will play Mt. Carmel at 7 p.m.
