Youth Club Charity Ball canceled; but money pours in anyway

Coronavirus may have caused the cancellation of the Youth Club Charity Ball this year, but generous people and sponsors have raised more than $55,000 so far despite the disappointment.

Despite the circumstances, the online auction raised $10,895 for the Youth Club; the sponsorships raised another $40,750 and Barb Daniels won the Taste of Du Quoin raffle which raised $4,180.

Tickets for gun, bow and handgun prizes, sponsored by Jones Sporting Goods, are still on sale. Online bidding is continuing for other items over the next couple of weeks. On Facebook, "like" the Du Quoin Youth Club Charity Ball and Auction page to keep up to date.

Thank you to everyone who participated in the first online auction for the Youth Club. The committee and volunteers worked together, and we appreciate everyone who posted and shared our plans to help make the auction successful.

Thank you to Sunny 97.1 for letting us broadcast our auction over the radio and helping us get the word out about our alternative plans. Thanks to everyone who donated an item or gift certificate. Thank you to the Weekly-Press newspaper for covering our auction. Thank you to the Du Quoin State Fairgrounds for letting us keep what we had set up in order to have the auction. Thank you to Nathan Armstrong-618Pro for his services.

Thank you to everyone who gave a donation or bought an auction item. Thank you for supporting the Youth Club and the children of Du Quoin.

Last but not least, thank you to our sponsors, they give without question, knowing the importance of the Youth Club programs. Please tell these businesses and individuals thank you when you see them or patronize their businesses.
