Suicide prevention group fundraiser features Battle of the Bands

Lifesavers Training Corp. invites you to join them for an evening of food, fun and entertainment on Saturday, Sept. 21 at the VFW Hall in Sparta. Lifesavers is a peer-support, suicide and crisis prevention training program for adolescents and young adults.

The doors for "Jeans & Jams" will open at 5:30 p.m., when guests can begin bidding on silent auction items. The BBQ dinner begins at 6 p.m. followed by a dessert auction. The entertainment portion of the evening is a Battle of the Bands Competition at 7 p.m. featuring local young artists vying for cash prices: $250 winner; $150 second place and $100 third place. First place winners will also receive a trophy, and winners will be chosen via audience applause.

LSTC board members have compiled desirable auction items including a South Africa Photo Safari (to be sold in an oral auction), tickets to a San Francisco Giants game in San Francisco, passes to the Magic House and more.

The evening will conclude with the announcement of the raffle winner who will receive a prize valued at more than $1,000 which includes: A Traeger Pro Series 22 Bronze Pellet Grille; 2 $50 gift certificates for food; one bag of wood pellets; various grilling tools, seasonings, rubs, and a cooler filled with soda.

Tickets are $25, which can be bought in advance or at the door. Guests also can buy a table for eight for $175 in advance.
