Saline County 4-H: Meat Goat Show winners announced

The Saline County 4-H Meat Goat Show was held in the Sam Stafford Livestock Building on July 23. We would like to thank Meat Goat Superintendent, Rachel Parish, for all she did to prepare for this show.

We would also like to thank our judge, Tim Quiggins.

Meat Goat Show results

Breeding Meat Goats were divided into Registered and Commercial classes. Breeding Registered Meat Goat Grand Champion went to Adrienne Poore, with Gavin Horton receiving the Reserve Champion ribbon in this category. Gavin Horton was also the winner of the Breeding Commercial Meat Goat Grand Champion and Reserve Champion ribbons.

Adrienne Poore's Meat Goat entry won Overall Breeding Meat Goat Champion and Gavin Horton's entry received Overall Breeding Reserve Champion.

They each received a banner sponsored by Saline County Farm Bureau and Adrienne received a plaque created by Tim Arnold.

Adrienne Poore exhibited the Market Meat Goat Grand Champion, with Laney Rister showing the Reserve Champion in the Market Meat Goat category.

Adrienne and Laney were also the winners of the Overall Market Meat Goat Champion and Reserve Champion banners.

The 2019 Saline County 4-H Meat Goat Senior Showmanship Grand Champion was Briley Lenkaitis and Reserve Champion was Bridget Payne.

Intermediate Showmanship Grand Champion was Adrienne Poore, with Maddie McFarland receiving the ribbon for Reserve Champion.

Junior Showmanship Grand Champion was Kailyn Williams, with Reserve Champion honors going to Laney Rister.

Meat Goat Bred & Owned Breeding Champion, Adrienne Poore, received a plaque and gift certificate, sponsored by Anderson Crop Insurance - Phil and Karen Anderson. Gavin Horton, Bred & Owned Breeding Reserve Champion, received a plaque and gift certificate, sponsored by Ron and Carla Bradley.

Meat Goat Bred & Owned Market Champion, Laney Rister, and Reserve Champion, Ryan Boulds, each received a plaque and gift certificate, sponsored by C&B Cattle Company - Chris and Ben Evans.

Saline County 4-H would like to send out a special thank you to our Saline County Farm Bureau for sponsoring the Champion and Reserve Champion banners for our Overall winners.

Saline County Farm Bureau also sponsored the ribbons used for all of our Saline County 4-H Shows this year.

Nancy Lambert is the program coordinator for the Saline County 4-H.
