Your day at the Illinois State Fair

The following is a special release from University of Illinois Extension.

If you are selected as one of our county's representative at the Illinois State Fair, congratulations! Here is what you need to know.

Please notify the Saline County 4-H Office at (618) 252-8391 by July 12 if you want to take your project to the Illinois State Fair.

The county office will mail you more information and an exhibit tag. Remove all the tags and ribbons from our county show. Saline County exhibits at the Illinois State Fair on Saturday, Aug. 10, 2019.

Traffic can be very busy, so give yourself plenty of time to arrive in Springfield and the Fairgrounds. At the fairgrounds, make your way to the far west side to the Orr Building.

4-H members should drop their projects off at the table for their project area between 8 and 9:30 a.m., tear off the claim ticket attached to the exhibit tag, and check the master schedule to see what time your conference judging begins.

Everyone will have at least 10 minutes to discuss your project with a judge. Return to your judging area about 10 minutes before your scheduled time. Your project will remain on display until 3:30 p.m. that day. Be sure to come back and pick it up before the 4:30 p.m. closing time.

Projects may not be removed from the judging area until 3:30 p.m. If you need to leave early, please arrange with someone else from your county to pick up your project. Be sure to give them your claim ticket.

Adults volunteers and leaders: Be sure to check in at the information booth to receive your special gift.
