Chester Public Library: It's poetry month ... and other fun April activities

April is National Poetry Month, and adults and students grades 7th-12th are invited to submit original poems in free verse or rhyme by April 17. Poetry rules and submission forms are available on the library's website or at the library.

April 4: 6:30 p.m., "Navies of the Civil War: By Sea and By River."

April 6: 10 a.m.-noon, Census Job Applicant Help Session.

April 8: 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. Spring craft events for adults. Free, all supplies provided for participants to create spring crafts and/or greeting cards. No special skills required.

April 9: 6 p.m. Twilight Easter LapSit Storytime, ages birth to 5.

April 9: 7 p.m. Movie Night! Free popcorn. Contact the library for details.

April 16: 6 p.m. "Eggcellent Easter Event", for children kindergarten-4th grade. Registration required.

April 17: 2-6 p.m., Easter egg dyeing for all ages. Bring your own hard boiled eggs, decorate them at the library, and have no mess at home! Dye and embellishments provided.

April 18:10 a.m.-noon, IDES Veterans Job Services.

April 23: 6 p.m. Friends of the Library meeting. All members and prospective members are welcome to attend.

April 24: 4:30 p.m. Creative Kids. Elementary age children are invited to make a special Mother's Day craft. Registration required.

April 25: 4:30 p.m. Teen event for 8th grade through high school, crafting with Ms. Lisa. Registration required.

April 29: 6:30 p.m. Poetry Contest reception. The public is invited to attend the reception where poems and awards will be shared.

April 30: 4:30 p.m. Lego Fun

Don't forget

Every Tuesday morning at 10:30 a.m., children 0-5 are invited to a short storytime with songs, a story, and a simple craft. Adults must accompany children.

Every Monday and Wednesday afternoon at 1 p.m. the Regional Office of Education offers G.E.D. classes at the Chester Public Library.
