MARION -- The Marion Lions Club Wednesday wrapped Christmas gifts for 37 children in the community. The gifts were purchased with funds collected by the club throughout the calendar year.

Club president Cherrish McCoy said the Lions contact the Williamson County Special Education District and ask the teachers to compile a list of less fortunate children who may be in need of Christmas gifts.

"We send the district a catalog of toys with pictures of each toy," McCoy said. "The teachers then sit down with each student they deem worthy of a gift and that child selects three toys they like from the catalog. We purchase one of the chosen gifts for each child. We then invite these children to attend a Chrimas party with our club where we share pizza donated by Fazoli's restaurant in Marion. Pepsi Mid-America in Marion provides free drinks."

Santa Claus also pays a visit to the children after the luncheon, McCoy said, delivering the presents to each child.
