HARRISBURG -- Harrisburg Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts spent Saturday morning retrieving sacks of donated food items for a local food pantry as part of the group's "Scouting for Food" program.

A week previous, scouts had distributed blue plastic bags to local residences. On Saturday, they revisited those homes and picked up non-perishable foods in those blue bags.

In all, more than 3,000 items were collected by Harrisburg Scouts. The food was brought back to the First Presbyterian Church in Harrisburg, where it was organized and loaded into volunteers' vehicles and taken to the 4C's food pantry.
