Red hatters go green for St. Patrick's Day

The Red Hats for God celebrated St. Patrick's Day with Irish pins, candies, necklaces and shamrocks at its March 7 meeting at Dad's BBQ in Eldorado. Queen Mother Betsy Evans and Rhinestone Cowgirl Phyllis McDaniel decorated the room.

While the group waited for lunch, Cinderella In Waiting Mary Smith gave Crown Princess Nosey Posey Shirley Harris a cute reading to read. Crown Princess Nosey Posey then offered the blessing for lunch.

After lunch, the red hatters played five games of Bible Bingo with Rhinestone Cowgirl Phyllis McDaniel, Empress of Elegance Joan Wilson, Carolyn Dunn, Lady Shopping Diva Delores Sharpin and Miss Ruby Rhubard Janet Gibson all winning prizes. The blackout game was won by Janet.

The group also played a game which involved holding a paper plate on or behind one's head and drawing something that looks the most like a shamrock. Baroness of Buttons and Bows Elizabeth Rittenberry won this game. In another game, everyone picked curly red or yellow ribbons from a sack. Shirley Harris drew the longest red ribbon and won the prize. The door prize was won by Lady of Elegance Joan Wilson.

Birthday girls from the first quarter were Queen Mother Betsy Evans, January; Baroness of Buttons and Bows Elizabeth Rittenberry, February; and Ritzy River Royalty Emma Smith, March. Everyone signed a get-well card for Lady of Song Rita Bramlet, who was unable to attend since she was recovering from a recent knee replacement surgery.

Those attending the meeting were Ruth Payne, Roma Wilson, Phyllis McDaniel, Betsy Evans, Shirley Harris, Carolyn Dunn, Elizabeth Rittenberry, Emma Smith, Mary Smith, Janet Gibson and Joan Wilson.

The next gathering will be at 4:30 p.m. April 4 at Dream Baskets in Harrisburg.
