Indianettes Dance Team wins regional; headed for state

The Du Quoin Indianettes took first place in regional competition this past weekend and qualified for the coming state competition.

At the Illinois Drill Team Association regional competition held Dec. 9 at Belleville Althoff Catholic School, the Indianettes took first place in class A of the pom/dance category. Du Quoin beat teams from Pinckneyville, Belleville Althoff, Roxana, Marquette Catholic and Dupo to take top honors.

In addition, Brooke Ward's performance earned her the judges' pick for Rising Star.

With the win, the team qualified for the state competition in February. Next week the team travels to Belleville East to compete. 

This year's team members include Lillie Feltmeyer, Kirtley Scarber, Alicia Owings, Raylee Carroll, Addi Carver, Trinity Wright, Mackenzie Sizemore, Braylee Watson, Malena Adams, Lily Metten, Kloey Harsy, Avery Waller, Madison Jones, Brooke Ward and Kaylee Storey. The Indianettes are coached by Brittany Funk and Bri Green.
