For 44th time, Old Settlers Days brings Galatians together

GALATIA - Galatia residents and other Saline Countians gathered Thursday, Friday and Saturday to celebrate the 44th annual Old Settlers Days, sponsored by the Galatia Lions Club.

The festival's theme this year, "Howl'n at the Moon at OSD" is an homage to this summer's total solar eclipse on Aug. 21.

Free carnival rides were available all three days, in addition to a heavy entertainment lineup. Thursday night, former Saline County resident Kendall Marvel, now a successful country music songwriter and

performer, was the entertainment nightcap.

Friday also featured a full evening entertainment slate. On Saturday, the Lions Club's "Big Auction," conducted by auctioneer Jamie Scherrer, featured more than $13,099 in donated merchandise. An all-day flea market also was a highlight.
