Logan softball splits twinbill at Jefferson

HILLSBORO, Mo. -- The John A. Logan College softball team split a doubleheader Sunday against Jefferson College, losing the opener 10-9 and winning the second game, 3-0.

In game one, the Vikings jumped out to an early 3-0 lead. It wasn't until the top of the fourth that Lynnsay Wilson hit her first home run of the season to put the Lady Vols on the board.

As the pitching continued to struggle the bats continued to ring. In the sixth, Kiarha Wilce hit a homer of her own that tied the game up at 9, the Jefferson scored in the bottom of the seventh for the win.

In game two, Logan's Nicole Short threw her first shutout of the season.

The bats stayed hot for the Lady Vols and Lauren Talton hit a homer to make it 1-0 in the second.

Logan was able to push another run across in the fifth and Taja DeDecker hit her first homer of the season in the seventh to make the final score 3-0.

The Lady Vols are now 6-1 and host Three Rivers in a doubleheader starting at 2 p.m. this Friday.
