<div>HARRISBURG &#8211; Police officers continue to investigate an early Saturday morning shooting on East Dayton Avenue in Harrisburg, the city's police chief said Monday afternoon.</div>

<div>At about 2:30 a.m. Saturday, an unknown suspect or suspects fired several shots in the 200 to 300 block of East Dayton, which is two blocks north and east of the intersection of North Main Street and the Illinois 13 bypass. Three people were injured as a result of the shooting, two in a leg and one in the chest.</div>

<div>Harrisburg Police Chief David Morris said several people are considered persons of interest by law enforcement investigating the shooting, but the names have not been made public yet.<br />"They've got several names, but they haven't talked to all of them yet," Morris said.</div>

<div>Illinois State Police District 19 is considered the lead investigative department, and Morris said the primary ISP investigator continues to check out leads.</div>

<div>The people shot are recovering, he said.</div>

<div>"All three of the victims are OK," Morris said.</div>

<div>Morris said his department plans to cross-check this shooting with other recent shootings in Harrisburg to see if there is a connection.</div>

<div>He said in Saturday's shooting, multiple handguns and at least two different calibers of bullets were used.</div>

<div>Morris said if anyone has information about the shooting he or she would like to share and remain unknown, he urges that person to contact him and leave a number at (618) 252-8661.</div>

<div>On Monday, a man in that neighborhood who was picking up his young daughter, said he had not heard about the weekend shooting, but the news had him concerned.</div>

<div>The man, who identified himself only as "Mario," said he was shocked that multiple people had been injured.</div>

<div>"That seems crazy," Mario said. "But, that's part of the reason for concealed carry."</div>
