2013-14 Match of the Year for Warren and McDonough Counties

On 25 June 2014 Little Sister Niyesha and Big Sister Kelly will accept an award as the 2013-14 Match of the Year for Warren and McDonough Counties!<span id="more-48"></span>

Niyesha and Kelly have been together in the Big Brothers Big Sisters program since 15 April 2013, and have done wonderful things together. From raising money for a missionary church in Africa to cleaning up a Macomb cemetery, Niyesha and Kelly have been an inspiring example of what mentoring relationships can do, for the mentor as much as the mentee. In 2013 the Canadian Centre for Addiction and Mental Health and BBBS Canada released the results of a 5-year study of the effects of mentoring. A key finding of that study was that "Girls with a Big Sister are two and a half times more likely than girls without a mentor to be confident in their ability to be successful at school."
