SWIMMING: Dolphins win weather-shortened meet vs. Red Bud

Pinckneyville came out on top in Thursday night's weather-shortened home swim meet against Red Bud, topping the Waverunners 154-111 after 30 events before lightning ended the night's activities.

The weather didn't stop the Dolphins' boys 11-12 200 yard medley relay team from bettering their own Shawnee Swim Conference and Pinckneyville team record, as the group of Barrett Denny, Steven Hirte, Nile Adcock, and Tyler Brammeier improved their time to 4:33.81, claiming the win in the event.

Six other Pinckneyville medley relay teams also won, including the boys 8 & under (Cale Schneider, Aiden Carter, Landen Carter, Mark Stanton), boys 9-10 (Bradley Denny, Bryan Hirte, Karsen Konkel, Caleb Lewis), girls 9-10 (Amelia Carter, Carly Heisner, Audrey Stevenson, Callie Wildermuth), girls 11-12 (Zoey Brammeier, Roslyn Sronce, Chloe Yates, Aften Konkel), girls 13-14 (Evan DeRosia, Lauren Stevenson, Abigail Barnes, Zoey Smith) and girls 15-18 (Tabetha Smith, Olivia Chapman, Savannah Cheek, Ashley Harsy).

Dolphins winning solo races on Thursday were Karsen Konkel (boys 9-10; individual medley, backstroke), Amelia Carter (girls 9-10; IM), Savannah Cheek (girls 15-18; IM, backstroke), Aiden Carter (boys 6 & under; backstroke), Claira Folden (girls 6 & under; backstroke), Carly Heisner (girls 9-10; backstroke), Roslyn Sronce (girls 11-12; backstroke), Evan DeRosia (girls 13-14; backstroke) and Ian Henne (boys 15-18; backstroke).

The Dolphins travel to Millstadt on Tuesday for their next meet.
