Files seized from Harrisburg doctor's office

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Federal agents loaded boxes of files into a van from the North Commercial Street, Harrisburg, office of Walt Mutschler, MD, operator of Stat Care Medical, Friday morning.

An agent who described himself as being in charge of the apparent investigation said he was serving the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. The agent refused to provide his name and said he would not speak about the operation.

The agent said Assistant U.S. Attorney Liam Coonan was the spokesperson for the apparent investigation.

Coonan did not return a phone message Friday. Mutschler also did not return a phone message left at his office number.

According to the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulations Web site, Mutschler's physician and surgeon license had been placed on probation from Nov. 20, 2003, to Nov. 19, 2008, "due to habitual use of drugs and/or alcohol."

Stat Care Medical office is located at 503 Ste. A N. Commercial St., Mutschler does not have any hospital affiliations and is a participating Medicare provider, according to the IDFPR posting.
