Recreation areas slowly reopening

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[The U.S. Forest Service has opened several recreation areas after clearing debris from the two ice storms the last week of January.

Garden of the Gods and Tower Rock Recreation Areas opened Feb. 12, though the Tower Rock Campground Loop Road remains closed.

Rim Rock Recreation Area opened Feb. 14.

Pounds Hollow Recreation Area is currently under a seasonal closure, so work to clear that road has not begun.

Millstone Bluff is closed with several pine trees blocking the road.

Lake Glendale Recreation Area is closed.

High Knob Lookout Picnic Area is closed.

Illinois Iron Furnace is closed.

Whoopie Cat Lake and Lake Tecumseh are open as are the Hickory Ridge Boat Launch at Lake of Egypt and Dutchman Lake Recreation Area.
