Chuck Genesio to run for Du Quoin council

Business owner and lifelong resident, Chuck Genesio, has decided to run for Du Quoin City Council. He would like to use his more than 30 years of public service and business experience to serve the citizens of Du Quoin and help improve our community.

Chuck owns and operates Genesio Refrigeration, in business for 64 years, and Meridian Oil & Gas, in business for 32 years. He served as the coordinator of the Du Quoin Emergency Management Agency for 18 years, president of the Illinois Emergency Services Management Association, and as an auxiliary deputy with the Perry County Sheriff's office for over 14 years. He currently serves on the Statewide Illinois Emergency Management Assistance Team and is a member of the Marshall Browning Hospital board of directors.

Chuck is the son of Ann and the late Charles Genesio. He and his wife, Heather, have two children, Kelly and Chance. He enjoys spending time with his family, hunting, being outdoors, and playing golf.

The only announced candidates at this writing are incumbent Mayor Rex Duncan, opponent Guy Alongi and city council candidate Mike Ward, retired Chief of Police and school board president.
