  • The women's ball field at the Carrier Mills-Stonefort high school is getting new lights and possible a new scoreboard. The park district leases the two ball fields from the high school and, under the terms of the lease, can make upgrades to the facilities.
“The Carrier Mills Township Road Commission donated funds for this,” Carrier Mills Park District President Chris Mosier said. “They had a small surplus in their budget and needed a good community project to spend to on. We are very grateful. It will be a great improvement to the field.”
Mosier said that the poles were installed last week and members of the local electricians union donated their time and labor attaching the light fixtures.
“We have to trench in the power lines then hook them up and the new lights will be in use in the next several weeks,” Mosier said.
Mosier further stated that there appeared to be enough left over from the road commission's donation to allow the park district to purchase and install a new score board at the women's field.
“We have to look at our budget to make sure we can fund the difference from what is left of the donation, but I think it will happen,” Mosier said.
Mosier added that the park district plans to complete these improvements this year.
