  • Another successful celebration of the Stonefort Soldiers and Sailors Reunion occurred over the weekend and the attendance was good, with large crowds turning out despite very hot and humid weather.
Friday's entertainment opened with the popular Carrier Mills-Stonefort Top Cats Dance teams. Comprised of the school dance teams from the kindergarden through the high school, these young ladies again wowed the crowd with their moves. It is the younger girls who are most adorable, their little faces set in looks of concentration and fun as they performed before the crowd.
The Carrier Mills-Stonefort High School Cheerleaders then performed, followed by Democrat Night where the Saline County Democratic candidates espoused their cause to the audience. The popular local band Mixed Company the took the stage and their soulful music serenaded the ears festival-goers for the rest of the night.
Families strolled the reunion grounds, stopping top sample the many tempting food treats as their children rushed gleefully from ride to ride.
The “Scrambler” swept it's riders around and around and the ever popular swings spun the children through the air. Savory smells emanated from the Reunion Fund Raiser Fish Fry where fish plates were served to all comers.
The muggy heat dissipated as the evening wore on and the festival crowd lingered late at one of the last fairs of the 2014 summer season.
