WEST FRANKFORT — The Eldorado High School girls’ golf team improved to 5-0 on the year, outshooting West Frankfort 177-207 in dual match action Wednesday at Franklin County Country Club.
In the second time, in as many times out, Ashton Goodley took home medalist honors, shooting a 2-over 38 on a course that will serve host as this year’s IHSA Regional.
Taylor Goodley finished with a 42, while Taylor Aldridge improved her score from Monday’s season-opening meet with a 44. Sydney Tate carded a 53, rounding out the top four scores for Eldorado.
EHS head coach Greg Goodley said that while his girls didn’t play their best round, there was some solace in the notion that they did a good job of managing the course.
“I was very proud of Ashton, she had a solid round today,” Goodley said. “Taylor Goodley had some tough breaks, but worked through them and Taylor Aldridge shot a score more to her liking in the area that I thought she could. Sydney had another good day, but I still believe her scores will drop as the season progresses.”
The Eagles will return to Franklin County Country Club today (Thursday) to compete in an 18-hole, 4-ball tournament.
