  • Illinois State Police warn motorists they will be conducting a Roadside Safety Check in Saline County Saturday, Aug. 23, according to a release from District 19 Commander, Captain Kelly Hodge.
Troopers will be watchful for drivers who are operating vehicles in an unsafe manner, driving with a suspended and revoked license, transporting open alcoholic beverages or driving under the influence.
According to the ISP, alcohol and drug impairment is a significant factor in over 40 percent of all fatal motor vehicle crashes in the state. Roadside Safety Checks are intended to take DUI offenders off the road.
The project is funded through the Illinois Department of Transportation, Division of Traffic Safety.
