  • Saline County Sheriff’s Deputies are investigating two thefts reported last week.
Someone has been stealing copper wire from the Flanders Road area.
Albert Flanders reported employees arrived Thursday at his farm on Flanders Road half a mile east Cottonwood Road to find damage to a power meter and meter assembly, according to a Saline County Sheriff’s report.
Copper wires had been cut and buildings on the property had been kicked in, though Flanders could find nothing else missing.
Southeastern Illinois Electric Cooperative also reported a copper wire theft. A co-op employee reported Wednesday two power poles had been cut down and copper had been stolen from them in the Flanders Road area near some grain bins, the report indicates.
Deputies are also investigating the theft of $4,900 worth of tires and wheels reported stolen from a Jim Hayes Inc. Ford Raptor pickup truck, according to a sheriff’s report.
Milton Dishman reported the theft from the Muddy business the morning of July 22.
