  • The population of Eldorado will increase starting Friday as the annual Beulah Holiness Camp Meeting begins.
    Beulah Holiness Camp Meeting will run through Friday, Aug. 1 700 Trolley Road, Eldorado. The inter-generational camp has been in existence since 1903 providing contemporary Gospel messages in a historical setting. Age-specific programs are available for children, youth, college, career young adults and older adults.
    The Mission Blitz 2014 is a work mission opportunity geared toward the youth and young adults, but open to all campers. The Mission Blitz will spend time in community mission projects followed by off-site activities around beautiful Southern Illinois. The Mission Blitz will take place from 9:30 a.m. through 2 p.m.
    The Evangelists for the week include:
    The Rev. Tom Atkins who was appointed as a General Evangelist from the North Georgia Conference in 1984. He has pastored United Methodist Churches in North Georgia for 23 years before being appointed as General Evangelist.
    The Rev. Bert Jones who is the President and CEO of GO International located in Wilmore, Ky. GO International is a world-wide ministry with a focus on helping people develop and pursue their passion for fulfilling the Great Commission. Bert travels in the US and around the world preaching and challenging people to consider mission opportunities.
    The Bible Teacher will be Stan Key who has served as both a missionary and a pastor. He served with his wife as missionaries in France for 10 years. He is senior pastor of Loudonville Community Church in Albany, N.Y., for the 18 years. He joined the staff of the Francis Asbury Society in January of 2013.
    The Song Evangelist is Brian Arner. Brian has emerged as one of the finest voice in inspiration Christian music. His dramatic solo interpretations thrill, inspire, and move his listeners. His vocal quality is matched only by the depth and sincerity of his spirit.
    Tim Price and the Harvest Ministry Team will serve as the youth workers. Tim has served in camps, churches, and youth events since 1990. In 1996 Harvest was founded as a way to invite young adults to experience summer ministry hands-on. More than 200 young adults have traveled with Harvest.
    Andy and Lizet Bowen and their children Lucas, Timothy and Joseph serve as missionaries for World Gospel Mission in Paraguay. They will be missionaries for the camp week. A native of Kenya Andy directs a language institute where missionaries learn both language and culture. Both are involved in evangelism, discipleship and teaching, both in the community and in other parts of the country.
    The children’s program (ages kindergarten through completion of fifth grade) will be led by Debbie Randoll. She has served as the Children’s Ministry Director at Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Marion for the past five years. Debbie holds an Elementary Education degree from Southern Illinois University-Carbondale. She developed a love for camp as a child and enjoys creating those same experiences for children at Beulah. She is excited about the opportunity to teach about God and the Bible through stories, games, crafts and music.
