  • WADI summer energy assistance to begin July 7

  • WADI will begin making appointments 8:30 a.m. Monday, July 7, 2014, for the Summer Energy Assistance Program for the Southeastern Illinois counties of Edwards, Gallatin, Hamilton, Saline, Wabash, Wayne and White.

  • WADI will begin making appointments 8:30 a.m. Monday, July 7, 2014, for the Summer Energy Assistance Program for the Southeastern Illinois counties of Edwards, Gallatin, Hamilton, Saline, Wabash, Wayne and White.
    The program runs until July 23 or until funding is depleted.
    Appointments will be made for households containing any of the following:
    Households that contain a member with a medical condition that can be improved by air conditioning, such as emphysema, coronary disease and terminal illnesses. Required documentation must include a doctor's certification letter dated within the last ninety days, stating that the medical condition would be aggravated by extreme heat.
    Households that contain a member who is elderly (age 60 and above).
    Households that contain children 5 years of age or younger.
    Households that contain a member permanently disabled, (receiving disability benefits or having a disability approval letter).
    Applicants will need to bring the following to their appointment: Current utility bills, proof of all household income for 30 days prior to the appointment, social security cards for all household members. Those qualifying for a child 5 years of age or younger, must bring proof of the child's birth date.
    Contact your local WADI office for an appointment. The Harrisburg office is at 14 Veterans Drive, Harrisburg. Eldorado residents should visit the office at 127 E. Logan St., Shawneetown.
