  • Eldorado City Council began their Tuesday meeting with applause for the bike trail.
During the public comment portion of the meeting Mike Goodley took the moment to praise the city workers for maintenance of the trail, that begins at the north end of town, stretches to the south end, past Muddy and, eventually, all the way to Karnak, well over 50 miles into the distance.
“Your crew does a really good job taking care of it,” Goodley said.
Commissioner Robby Price read a Facebook post from an individual who also praised the trail.
“It doesn’t go unnoticed,” Price said.
Commissioners thanked city crews for mowing and other upkeep of the bike path.
    Clean up
Ordinance Enforcement Officer Billy Bradley said he is trying to keep up on unmoved yard within the city and asked those who spot a problem of overgrowth to notify the city.
Bradley said since last meeting one derelict trailer has been hauled away and that the city has an option to buy an abandoned house at State Street and Marshall Street. The owner asks the city have the property appraised, Bradley said.
Mayor Rocky James asked commissioners to drive past the property and form an opinion.
    Dogs
Citizen Mike Goodley said he has noticed a problem of dogs running loose and wants to emphasize the city ordinance against dogs off of leashes.
“I have them running through my yard all the time,” Goodley said.
Dogs off leashes and on property not owned by their owners are subject to confiscation and a citation to the owner for allowing dogs to stray on another’s property.
    Water and sewer bills
Customers can expect a raise in water an sewer bills to a minimum of $.32 for water and $.28 per sewer for a total $.60 raise. That raise plus the trash charge of $11 will result in a minimum payment of $39.40 for water, sewer and trash.
Council also appraised a penny pitch request for Eldorado Town and Country Days for Saturday on State Street/state Route 142.
