  • The Harrisburg school board discussed fee increases and staff restructuring during Tuesday night’s meeting.
Assistant Superintendent and High School Principal Karen Crank informed the board that a decision was needed on whether or not to increase student fees in areas such as drivers education, cost of lunch milk to students and activity fees for the middle and high school.
After a great deal of back and forth between board members and principals of both middle and high school and discussion of the financial need versus negative impact of increases, the board voted the following changes in fees structure:
The fee for individual students taking the drivers education course at the high school will increase from $50 to $75, effective for the new school year.
The cost of an activity pass, which covers admission to home sports games, will increase at the high school level from $22 to $25.
The cost of milk for the students at lunch will increase from $.25 to $.30.
All other fees including the “pay for play” fee of $100, required from each student involved in extracurricular sports, will remain unchanged.
The main action items on the agenda Tuesday night were the changes, dismissals and resignations affecting the staff of the Harrisburg school system and were voted on by the board.
