  • Lillian Endsley Britton, 93 of Harrisburg, passed away Monday, June 16, 2014, at her home.
She was born on May 27, 1921, in the community of Ledford to Fred and Mabel Irwin Carrier. She was married on Oct. 3, 1936, to Clint “Syd” Endsley who preceded her in death on March 7, 1954. She later married Morris Harding Britton in 1960 and he preceded her in death also.
As a young woman, Lillian along with her husband Clint and three daughters was an active member of the Dorrisville Baptist Church. Her love for her family extended to her church family where she taught Sunday School and Bible School, sang in the choir and served as a mentor as only she could to those in need of her guidance and love.
In her middle years as Mrs. Morris Harding Britton she was an active member of the Vail Street Baptist Church in Bloomington and her church when she died was the Pankeyville Baptist Church. There she loved and was loved in return by her wonderful church family. She taught the older men’s class, her “boys” as she called them, where she brought the Bible alive by applying its ancient lessons to life as we live it today.
Because of her strong belief in her church’s work in the mission field, for many many years up until her death Mrs. Britton contributed faithfully to the Billy Graham Ministry. Through the Franklin Graham ministry she established the Samaritan’s Purse shoebox program at Pankeyville Baptist Church where it continues to thrive. Through it her compassionate, loving spirit continues in the service of Christ.
Lillian is survived by three daughters, Mrs. George (Elaine) Myers and Anne and Thomas A. Alexander, all of Harrisburg, and Katie and Bill Poulos of Dongola; five grandchildren, Marta Myers Rollins, Karen Alexander McConnell, Steven Alexander, Elaina Poulos Keller and Christopher Poulos; 17 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Clint “Syd” Endsley and Morris Harding Britton; one daughter, Sally Earlene Endsley; two grandchildren, Clint Ferrell and Cindy Myers Galeener; two brothers Wendell Carrier and Kenneth Carrier; and three sisters, Kathleen Barker, Evelyn Hudgins and Iva Marie Carrier.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday, June 19, 2014, at the Pankeyvile Baptist Church with the Rev. Steve Nyburg officiating and burial in the Ledford Cemetery. Friends may call after 11 a.m. Thursday at the Pankeyville Baptist Church. For those who wish, memorials may be made to the Pankeyville Baptist Church. The J. M. Weirauch Funeral Home in Harrisburg is in charge of arrangements.
