Events such as this not only provide a source of entertainment in Harrisburg, but also serve as an outlet for local artists to share their talents.
“I think it inspires the local artists and gives them more opportunities,” Steam customer Dallas Bortz said.
Other customers echoed the same sentiment.
“I think it’s the best thing ever,” cafe patron and local lawyer Kelly Phelps said about the café and open mic night. Phelps went on to further praise the cafe, saying, “Everyone’s got three places. You’ve got work, you’ve got home, and you’ve got your third place. Steam is my third place.”
The cafe also hosts other events, having brought in comedians, musicians from across the country, and even putting on a movie screening. Such events usually bring in clientele that the business would not normally receive, and the owners have accordingly expressed a desire to continue hosting them.
“We just want to bring something different to Harrisburg, give people something to do,” co-owner Brett Adams said.
