  • Prep Softball: Eldorado stung by Yellow Jackets

  • Eagles fall by one, 5-4 to Chester

  • The Eldorado High School softball team matched Chester with hits, pounding out 10, but the Yellow Jackets scratched out one more run, knocking off the Eagles 5-4 Thursday at the EHS Sports Complex.
    Caitlyn Stafford went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI for the Eagles, while Kelsea Newman and Abby Steed each went 2-for-4. Steed scored a run, while she and Newman each had an RBI.
    McKennah Bowen, Lexi Clore and Stephanie Oker all had a hit. Bowen finished with an RBI, while Clore scored a run.
    Eldorado tied the game at 2-all after plating a run in the first and the third. Chester and the Eagles exchanged runs in the third inning, but the Yellow Jackets went on to plate a run in the fourth and fifth inning. Eldorado’s rally fell short with a run in the bottom of the seventh.
    Eldorado stranded eight runners on the day, while Chester left nine on.
    Michaela Laswell picked up the hard-luck loss, giving up five runs on 10 hits, while striking out nine and walking just one.
