  • Travelers experience a bit of inconvenience due to construction near the intersection of Sloan Street and U.S. Route 45 in Harrisburg Wednesday.
    Those complications will be short-lived.
Harrisburg Street Superintendent Rick Brown said Wednesday that the storm sewer repair in the westbound lane of Sloan Street west of U.S. Route 45 began at 7 a.m. Wednesday by workers for E.T. Simonds of Carbondale.
The work was to be complete at 7 a.m. Thursday.
Brown said a break in the storm sewer had eroded a void underground and the void had to be filled at the time that the sewer was repaired.
The city chose to contract the work to E.T. Simonds in the interest of completing it quickly.
