  • Harrisburg leaves 9 on base in 7-1 loss to Redskins

  • The Harrisburg High School baseball team knocked out nine hits, but it wasn’t enough in a 7-1 loss at Shawnee High School Wednesday.
    Brady Mayer led the Bulldogs at the plate, going 2-for-4, while Bryce Emery, Cooper Thompson, Brennan Street, Matthew Phipps, Sykes Thompson and Nick Davis all had a hit. Street finished with an RBI and a run scored in the loss.
    Phipps picked up the loss on the mound, going 5 1/3 of inning, giving up nine hits and seven runs, while striking out five.
    Harrisburg left nine runners on base Wednesday, while scratching out a run in the top of the sixth to cut the Shawnee lead to 4-1. The Redskins then scored three more runs in the bottom of the frame to close out the contest.
