  • James Ray Crayne, age 77 of Equality, passed away at 12:08 p.m. Saturday, April 26, 2014, at Baptist Health Hospital in Paducah, Ky.

  • James Ray Crayne, age 77 of Equality, passed away at 12:08 p.m. Saturday, April 26, 2014, at Baptist Health Hospital in Paducah, Ky.
    Ray was born on Monday, Jan. 11, 1937, in Saline County, to the late Lona "Buck" Crayne and Carrie (Barnett) Crayne. He married Rosetta Rodgers on Saturday, Sept. 15, 1956, and she preceded him in death on Friday, Oct. 1, 2010. Ray was formerly a Coal Miner for Sahara Coal Company for 37 years. He attended the Harrisburg First United Methodist Church and was a member of the Equality Masonic Lodge No. 2.
    Ray is survived by son, Michael Ray Crayne and wife Rebecca (Harris) of Junction; daughter, Darla Howerton and husband John of Paducah, Ky.; grandchildren, Michelle Dixon and husband Jacob of Harrisburg and Kara Crayne of Junction; brothers-in-law, Jim Rodgers and wife Billie of Ridgway, Bernie Rodgers and wife Barb of Ridgway; and several cousins.
    Ray was preceded in death by his wife Rosetta Crayne, parents, Lona "Buck" and Carrie (Barnett) Crayne; and father and mother-in-law, Burnette and Ethel Rodgers.
    Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 30, 2014, at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg. The Rev. Phil Poe will officiate and burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery in Equality. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 29, 2014, at Reed Funeral Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Harrisburg, 122 West Poplar Street, Harrisburg, Ill. 62946.
