  • The Galatia-Thompsonville High School softball team shared the wealth in a 10-0 win over Carrier Mills-Stonefort Thursday.
    The Bearcats improved to 10-2 on the season and stayed perfect at 5-0 in Greater Egyptian Conference play.
    Junior Brooke Burris picked up her first win of the year in the circle, going three innings and striking out three, while Lexi Johnson closed the game out with four strikeouts.
    The shutout Thursday marked the third of the season for Galatia-Thompsonville.
    At the plate, Emily Reed was a perfect 3-for-3, while Johnson was 2-for-2 with a pair of RBI.
    Larissa Bond and Burris were each 1-for-2 with two RBI, while Alle Teal finished 1-for-3 with two RBI.
    Galatia-Thompsonville scored two runs in the first and followed with a run in the third. The Bearcats opened the flood gates for a four-run fourth and followed that with a run in the fifth and two more runs in the sixth.
    Galatia-Thompsonville will take part in the Johnston City Tournament this weekend, playing Benton at noon and playing the host Indians at 2 p.m.
