  • Harrisburg rebounds from Herrin loss with win at West Frankfort

  • Harrisburg’s Hanna Jones missed going for the cycle by one hit, a double, as the Bulldogs knocked off West Frankfort 9-2 Thursday on the road.
    Jones finished up a day 3-for-4 at the plate with a triple and home run, including two RBI as the Bulldogs improved to 12-2 overall and 3-1 in SIRR Ohio Division play.
    Jones also got the win on the mound as the senior right hander improved to 8-1 with a five-hit performance allowing two runs (unearned), while striking out five and walking two.
    The Harrisburg bats came alive as the Bulldogs recorded 14 hits on the day.
    McKenzie Sullivan, Hannah Davis and Morgan Douglas all had two hits. Sullivan knocked in a pair of runs, while Douglas and Davis each had an RBI.
    Kaitlyn Hutchinson, Brittany Hutchinson, Whitney Younger, Brittany Reynolds and Ashley Ferrell all had a hit, with Kaitlyn Hutchinson driving in two runs.
    Harrisburg scored one run in the second and followed that with two more runs in the third. The Bulldogs exploded for a five-run fifth and closed out the game with a run in the sixth.
    The Bulldogs will be back in action Saturday at Pope County, where Harrisburg is set to play Hardin County at noon, followed by PCHS at 1:30 p.m.
