  • Prep Softball: Bearcats, Reed flex muscles in win over Gallatin County

  • Emily Reed and Lexi Johnson combined for a no-hitter in Galatia-Thompsonville’s 10-0 win over Gallatin County Friday.
    Reed picked up the win in the circle to improve to 4-0 on the year as the senior went five innings, striking out 11 and walking one.
    Johnson came on in relief, tossing two more inning as the sophomore struck out three and walked two.
    The Bearcats (8-2 overall, 3-0 Greater Egyptian Conference) pounded out 17 hits on the day as Reed went 3-for-5 at the plate.
    Elizabeth Sloan and Johnson both went 3-for-4 as Johnson drove in a run.
    Larissa Bond went 2-for-5 with a home run and three RBI’s.
    Galatia is slated to return to action today (Monday) against NCOE at 4:30 p.m., followed by a home game against Pope County Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.
    The Bearcats will travel to Crab Orchard Wednesday and Carrier Mills Thursday to close out the week.
