  • Harrisburg wins second straight team event to go 2-0 on season

  • The Harrisburg High School boys’ track and field team is now a perfect 2-0 on the season in scored meets.
    Earlier in the week, the Bulldogs took home first place at its own Invite. On Saturday, Harrisburg turned the trick again, this time at Carterville.
    Harrisburg won 11 out of 19 events at the Carterville Invite knocking off Herrin 149-136.
    Anna-Jonesboro finished third, while Murphysboro was fourth. Carterville finished fifth, followed by Massac County, Goreville, Johnston City and Pinckneyville.
    Corbin Crim brought home three first place finishes, winning the long jump at 20-feet-10 and tying a personal record in the 100 meter dash with a time of 11 seconds and 22.3 seconds in the 200 meter dash.
    Luke Horton had two first place finishes, one of which came in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:04 and the other in the 400 meter dash in a time of 51.4 seconds.
    Kane Carrigan also brought home two first place finishes. The sophomore won the shot put with a toss of 46-feet-1 and won the discuss with a throw of 129-feet-8.
    Tyler Marler was the last two win multiple events as the sophomore won the 110 high hurdles with a time of 15.9 and finished first in the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 43.4
    Austin Lowry won the pole vault, clearing 12-feet and the 4x400 relay team of Aaron Stephens, Preston Boone, Horton and Marler finished first with a time of 3:40.
    The 4x100 and 4x200 relay teams each finished second with times of 45.2 and 1:37.5 respectively.
    Zach Rivers finished second in the pole vault, clearing 10-feet-6, while Boone was second in the 400 meters with a time of 52.6.
